From April 11 to 15, 2023, the University of Genoa in Italy hosted the kick-off meeting and study visit within the framework of the Erasmus+ “Universities-Communities: Strengthening Cooperation (UNICOM)” project.

Participants of the meeting, representatives of partners from various countries, discussed the organization of the project’s implementation, including the work plan for the first and second year. The program of the study visit included a presentation of the Italian experience in implementing the third mission at the national level and the practices of the University of Genoa.

18 partners from European Union countries and Ukraine presented their institutions and community interaction achievements. The UNICOM project aims to strengthen cooperation between universities and communities, as well as to increase students’ awareness of public administration issues. This is an important step in the development of the third mission of universities, which involves active participation of universities in the social and cultural life of the community.

The project includes a series of events aimed at increasing students’ awareness of public administration issues and activating their participation in public life. Within the project, a series of seminars, training sessions, and interactive classes will be held, which will help teachers and students better understand the role of public administration in modern society.

Project participants plan to continue cooperation and exchange of experience to ensure effective implementation of the third mission of universities in their countries. They believe that this project will help strengthen ties between universities and communities, as well as increase students’ awareness of public administration issues.

The meeting at the University of Genoa was an important step in the implementation of the UNICOM project. It allowed participants to discuss key aspects of the project, share experiences, and determine further steps for effective project implementation.
